MP412 REX

The MP412 REX is a Russian double-action .357 magnum revolver with a break-open frame and an automatic ejector. It was designed for export (REX, Revolver for EXport), but never put into full production due to lack of a market. The weapon was designed by IZHMECH, the state-owned Russian Izhevsk Mechanical Plant, which also designed and produced the Makarov PM semi-automatic pistol.

In popular culture

The MP412 appears in several video-games:

• In Battlefield: Bad Company it's the standard sidearm of the "Middle Eastern Coalition" faction.
• In Battlefield: Bad Company 2 it's an unlockable sidearm available in all kits (classes).
• In Battlefield 3 it's an unlockable sidearm, via CO-OP, available in all kits.
• In Battlefield Play4Free it's the most powerful handgun in the game which can be purchased from the in-game store.
• In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 the MP-412 appears in both campaign and multiplayer.

The gun was also featured in the video-game Red Steel, fulfilling the role of the magnum handgun found in many games of that type.
